El tipo de casco determina en gran medida la estrategia de posicionado de los caballetes. No existe un único método válido para todas las embarcaciones: un casco de fondo plano se comporta de forma muy diferente a un casco en V o a un catamarán.

Casco en V (embarcaciones a motor de alta velocidad y veleros de quilla corta). La referencia principal es siempre la línea de quilla. Los caballetes se colocan perpendiculares al eje longitudinal de la embarcación, a ambos lados del casco, en ángulo suficiente para que la almohadilla de contacto siga la forma de la obra viva sin concentrar el esfuerzo en un punto. El ángulo de la cabeza del caballete debe ajustarse para que el apoyo sea distribuido en superficie y no puntual. En cascos con pendiente pronunciada, el caballete exterior necesita mayor extensión que el interior para compensar la diferencia de altura.

Casco de fondo plano o semiplano. Es el caso más favorable desde el punto de vista del posicionado: los caballetes pueden situarse en posición casi vertical y la distribución de carga es más uniforme. Aun así, deben respetarse las zonas estructurales recomendadas y evitarse las zonas con orificios pasacascos o depósitos.

Catamaranes. Requieren una planificación especialmente cuidadosa porque cada uno de los dos cascos es relativamente estrecho y la carga se distribuye en cuatro líneas de apoyo en lugar de dos. Es habitual utilizar caballetes con cabeza ajustable de mayor anchura, o bien sistemas de viga transversal que repartan la carga entre varios puntos de cada casco. La coordinación con el fabricante del catamarán es especialmente importante en estos casos.

Veleros de quilla larga. La quilla actúa como soporte principal en rosca y conviene complementarla con bloques laterales que estabilicen el casco. Zonas a evitar durante el posicionado: riesgos estructurales y de instalaciones

Conocer dónde NO colocar los caballetes es tan importante como saber dónde sí hacerlo. El casco de una embarcación no es homogéneo: presenta zonas de alta resistencia estructural alternadas con zonas deliberadamente débiles donde se han practicado aberturas o donde el laminado es más fino.

Depósitos de combustible y agua dulce. Los depósitos de gran volumen crean cambios locales en la rigidez del casco y, en ocasiones, están fijados directamente a la obra viva. Situar un caballete bajo un depósito lleno puede generar concentraciones de tensión que el laminado no está dimensionado para absorber de forma puntual.

Pasacascos y grifos de fondo. Los orificios practicados en el casco para la toma de mar, el desagüe del motor o las salidas de sentina son puntos de debilidad local. Aunque el refuerzo perimetral de un pasacascos bien instalado es robusto, no está concebido para recibir cargas de compresión vertical.

Apoyos del motor y de la transmisión. En embarcaciones a motor con propulsión interior, la zona de los silent-blocks y de la bocina es especialmente vulnerable. La rigidez que aporta la transmisión en esa zona puede transmitir tensiones imprevistas al laminado si se coloca un caballete exactamente debajo.

Mamparos con recortes o con huecos de paso. Los mamparos estructurales son buenas referencias para situar caballetes en sus proximidades, pero si presentan recortes de gran tamaño para paso de tuberías o cables, su rigidez local puede estar comprometida.

Orificios de drenaje del espejo de popa. La zona del espejo y los tapones de vaciado de la bañera son frecuentemente mal elegidos como puntos de apoyo en embarcaciones deportivas de fondo plano. El laminado en esa zona suele ser más delgado que en el fondo del casco.

Una buena práctica es marcar en el croquis previo todas las zonas a evitar antes de decidir los puntos de apoyo definitivos. El personal del varadero con experiencia reconoce visualmente muchas de estas zonas, pero la documentación técnica del fabricante siempre tiene la última palabra.

El papel del elevador hidráulico y del travel lift en el posicionado

Una vez definida la posición de los caballetes en el área de varado, la maniobra de extracción del agua y descenso sobre los soportes implica dos tipos de maquinaria que conviene distinguir con claridad.

El travel lift es la grúa de pórtico autopropulsada que utilizan los varaderos para desplazar embarcaciones de gran eslora desde el agua hasta el área de almacenamiento. Es un equipo de terceros fabricantes, no un producto KIPAC. El travel lift eleva la embarcación mediante eslingas que rodean el casco y la transporta sobre el pavimento del varadero hasta situarla exactamente sobre los caballetes previamente posicionados. La precisión de ese posicionado depende de la habilidad del operador y, en varaderos modernos, de sistemas de marcado en el suelo que indican la posición exacta de cada caballete.

El elevador hidráulico para barcos de KIPAC es una solución diferente, pensada para instalaciones donde se necesita elevar la embarcación con precisión milimétrica desde una posición fija —típicamente en pantalanes de varada en seco o en instalaciones de almacenamiento en estantería—. En ambos casos —travel lift o elevador hidráulico para barcos— el principio es el mismo: la embarcación desciende lentamente sobre los caballetes ya posicionados, y el personal de tierra comprueba en tiempo real que cada soporte hace contacto con la zona correcta del casco. Si se detecta cualquier desviación, la maniobra se detiene, se reajusta el caballete y se repite el descenso. Materiales de almohadillado: goma, moqueta y espuma — espesor y dureza correctos

El contacto entre la cabeza metálica del caballete y el casco de la embarcación nunca debe ser directo. El material de almohadillado tiene una función doble: distribuir la carga puntual del apoyo en una superficie mayor y proteger el gelcoat o el laminado exterior de marcas, presiones localizadas y humedad.

Almohadillas de goma natural o sintética. Son la solución más habitual en varaderos profesionales. La dureza debe situarse entre 40 y 60 Shore A para la mayoría de los cascos de fibra de vidrio: una goma demasiado blanda se deforma en exceso y provoca que la carga se concentre en los bordes de la almohadilla; una goma demasiado dura transmite tensiones casi como si fuera metal. El espesor recomendado es de al menos 15 mm para cargas medias (embarcaciones hasta 5 t) y de 20-25 mm para embarcaciones más pesadas.

Moqueta de pelo corto. Se utiliza habitualmente como capa de protección superficial del gelcoat, a menudo en combinación con una almohadilla de goma debajo. Protege eficazmente contra arañazos pero no aporta capacidad de distribución de carga significativa. Debe sustituirse cuando muestra desgaste o cuando ha absorbido humedad de forma crónica, ya que la moqueta húmeda puede favorecer la formación de manchas en gelcoats blancos.

Espuma de poliuretano de alta densidad. Apropiada para cascos de madera o de aluminio, donde la distribución de presión debe ser especialmente uniforme. La densidad mínima recomendada es de 80 kg/m³; por debajo de ese valor, la espuma se comprime de forma permanente y pierde su capacidad de distribución de carga.

Errores frecuentes con el almohadillado. Usar material demasiado delgado o ya comprimido de temporadas anteriores, no verificar que la almohadilla cubre toda la superficie de contacto de la cabeza del caballete, o emplear materiales absorbentes que retienen humedad contra el casco durante meses. Conviene inspeccionar y renovar el almohadillado al inicio de cada temporada de varada.

Altura de los caballetes, nivelado y arriostramientos para embarcaciones altas o estrechas

Una vez colocados los caballetes bajo el casco, el trabajo no ha terminado. La comprobación del nivelado y la instalación de arriostramientos son pasos igualmente críticos, especialmente en embarcaciones con alto centro de gravedad o con casco estrecho.

Comprobación del nivelado. Antes de que la embarcación descanse definitivamente sobre los caballetes, el encargado de la maniobra debe verificar con un nivel de burbuja —o con un nivel láser en instalaciones modernas— que el eje longitudinal de la embarcación está horizontal (o con la inclinación prevista para el drenaje de la sentina) y que no hay diferencia de altura apreciable entre el lado de babor y el de estribor. Una diferencia de pocos centímetros puede parecer insignificante, pero en embarcaciones pesadas genera esfuerzos laterales sobre los caballetes para los que estos no están dimensionados si no están arriostrados.

Regulación de altura en caballetes KIPAC. Los modelos ajustables permiten variar la altura mediante husillo roscado o cilindro hidráulico según la serie, con recorridos que van desde unos pocos centímetros hasta más de un metro en los modelos de mayor capacidad. Esta flexibilidad elimina la necesidad de cuñas de madera, que son fuente frecuente de inestabilidad en varaderos de menor nivel técnico.

Arriostramientos para embarcaciones altas o estrechas. Los veleros de obra muerta elevada, los catamaranes en configuración de un solo casco apoyado, y las embarcaciones de motor con superestructura voluminosa son candidatos claros a requerir arriostramientos laterales. Estos arriostramientos —también llamados puntales de costado— se fijan al casco mediante almohadillas de goma y se anclan al suelo o a estructuras fijas del varadero. Errores frecuentes en el posicionado de caballetes y cómo evitarlos

La experiencia acumulada en varaderos europeos permite identificar un conjunto de errores que se repiten con independencia del tipo de embarcación o del nivel técnico del personal. Conocerlos es el primer paso para evitarlos.

Mover caballetes con el barco ya en tierra sin supervisión. Es el error más peligroso y, lamentablemente, uno de los más frecuentes. Cuando un armador o un técnico decide reajustar un caballete una vez la embarcación está posada, sin disponer de maquinaria de elevación ni de la supervisión del responsable del varadero, está asumiendo un riesgo de vuelco o de daño estructural que puede tener consecuencias graves. Cualquier ajuste de posición debe realizarse con la embarcación elevada o con el consenso y la supervisión del jefe de taller.

Almohadillas con dureza incorrecta. Una almohadilla demasiado blanda bajo una embarcación pesada se deforma hasta que la cabeza metálica del caballete queda prácticamente en contacto con el casco, concentrando la carga en un área mínima. Una almohadilla excesivamente rígida no distribuye los esfuerzos locales y puede marcar el gelcoat o incluso el laminado en varadas prolongadas.

Caballetes no nivelados entre sí. Cuando existe una diferencia de altura entre los caballetes de un mismo lado o entre los de babor y estribor, la embarcación no reposa de forma simétrica y los soportes más altos reciben una carga proporcionalmente mayor. Con el tiempo, esta sobrecarga puede provocar el pandeo del tubo del caballete o el deslizamiento de la almohadilla.

No registrar la posición de los caballetes. Omitir la fotografía o el croquis de la configuración final es un error que se paga cuando hay que repetir la varada o cuando existe una reclamación posterior sobre daños al casco.

Ignorar las recomendaciones del fabricante de la embarcación. Cada casco tiene una geometría estructural específica. Las recomendaciones del fabricante no son sugerencias: son el resultado del cálculo estructural realizado durante el diseño de la embarcación. ¿Puede el armador posicionar sus propios caballetes durante la varada?

En la mayoría de los varaderos profesionales, el posicionado de los caballetes es responsabilidad exclusiva del personal del astillero, no del armador. El motivo es tanto técnico como de responsabilidad civil: si se produce un daño al casco o un vuelco de la embarcación, la responsabilidad recae sobre quien realizó el posicionado. El armador puede y debe aportar la documentación técnica del fabricante e indicar las zonas a evitar, pero la ejecución de la maniobra debe quedarle al equipo del varadero. Conviene consultar con el astillero y la aseguradora si existe alguna duda sobre este reparto de responsabilidades.

¿Cómo se identifican los puntos débiles estructurales del casco si no se dispone del plano de formas?

Sin documentación técnica, la identificación de los puntos débiles se realiza mediante inspección visual experta del casco en el agua y, cuando es posible, del interior de la embarcación. Un técnico experimentado puede reconocer zonas de laminado reforzado observando el patrón de las fibras visibles, la ubicación de los mamparos y las zonas de mayor espesor aparente. También es habitual contactar directamente con el fabricante o con el astillero constructor, que en muchos casos conserva la documentación técnica original aunque el barco haya cambiado de propietario varias veces.

¿Es imprescindible el plano de formas para varar correctamente?

El plano de formas o la ficha técnica del fabricante es la referencia más fiable, pero no siempre es imprescindible si el personal del varadero tiene experiencia documentada con el mismo modelo de embarcación. En ausencia de documentación, el encargado de la operación debe aplicar criterios conservadores: mayor número de caballetes, apoyo en zonas claramente estructurales (cuadernas visibles, proximidad de mamparos) y altura de los soportes suficiente para que el contacto sea superficial y no puntual. ¿Cuántos caballetes se necesitan en función del desplazamiento?

No existe una fórmula única, pero como orientación general: embarcaciones hasta 3 t suelen requerir un mínimo de cuatro soportes (dos por lado); entre 3 y 10 t, entre cuatro y seis; por encima de 10 t, la configuración debe calcularse caso a caso en función de la distribución de masas y de la rigidez del casco. The buyer assumes all risks and responsibilities associated with the transportation of goods. Upon notification, the buyer is required to accept the prepared order within 10 days. Failure to do so may result in Spinea Navis imposing a daily penalty. Shipping and Packaging: All machines undergo inspection, testing, and proper packaging before shipment. Certain machines may be delivered partially disassembled for storage or transportation purposes. In these instances, the buyer is responsible for covering the costs associated with assembly or packaging.

Warranty: Spinea Navis provides a twenty-four-month warranty on new goods of its manufacture, starting from the delivery date. The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear of parts (subject to rapid and consistent wear), including filters, flails, bearings, wear stripes, belts, cables, hoses, transmission parts, etc.

During these twelve months, Spinea Navis d.o.o commits to replacing, free of charge, parts verified as defective by their technical and service department. Other costs, such as labour, transport, and packaging, remain the buyer’s responsibility.

Warranty Invalidation: The warranty is invalidated by:

  • Damages due to loss of earnings, personal property, exchanges, or rents

The seller is not liable for any direct and/or indirect loss or damage, particularly concerning production loss due to machine failure resulting from improper use, unintended use, failure to perform inspections, and non-compliance with accident prevention laws. Such grounds are sufficient for the annulment and invalidation of any applicable warranty. During the machine’s inactivity period, the customer cannot claim compensation and/or reimbursement of costs and/or direct and/or indirect damage resulting from defects due to the aforementioned repairs and/or replacement. This also applies to damage caused by improper handling, storage, assembly, external influences, weather, or force majeure (e.g., natural disasters).

Replaced parts remain the property of the seller and must be returned to the buyer with postage and paid packaging. At Spinea Navis’s discretion, defective parts can be replaced with new ones or repaired by Spinea Navis or its suppliers. The customer is also required to perform scheduled maintenance on the advertised device.

Spare Parts: It is essential to differentiate between spare parts installed/replaced during the warranty period and those replaced outside the warranty period. Spare parts installed/replaced during the warranty period are for repairing the goods, and the replaced parts do not carry a separate warranty period. The warranty remains attached to the product they are installed in.

  • Spare parts installed/replaced outside the warranty period are subject to a 24-month warranty

Spinea Navis and the trader explicitly exclude any liability for the impact on the product’s quality. The above-mentioned warranty does not replace liability. The product or its defects, including damages (resulting from machine failure or loss of income), expenses, or costs related to defects, are also excluded. The contract cannot be terminated, nor payments suspended (or reduced), as Spinea Navis’s obligation is limited to repairing and replacing parts under warranty.

Limitation of Liability: Spinea Navis is not responsible for any indirect or consequential damages, such as lost profits or business interruption, that may occur due to the use or inability to use our products or services.

Intellectual Property Rights: The buyer acknowledges and agrees that all intellectual property rights related to the products, including but not limited to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and any other proprietary rights, shall remain the exclusive property of the seller. The buyer is granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the products following the terms of this agreement. The buyer shall not reproduce, reverse engineer, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works based on the products, nor allow any third parties to do so, without the express written consent of the seller. Any unauthorized use, replication, or infringement of the seller’s intellectual property rights shall be considered a material breach of this agreement and may result in legal action.

Force Majeure: Force majeure events are unforeseen circumstances beyond our control that may affect our ability to fulfill our obligations, such as natural disasters or supply chain disruptions.

Governing Law and Venue: This agreement and any disputes arising out of or in connection with the sale shall be governed by and construed following the laws of the seller’s jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The parties hereby agree that any legal proceedings arising out of or relating to this agreement shall be brought exclusively in the courts located within the seller’s jurisdiction, and the parties hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts to litigate any such dispute. By entering into this agreement, the parties agree to waive any objections to the venue or inconvenient forum, and they further agree to be subject to the personal jurisdiction of said courts.

Dispute Resolution: Both parties should first attempt to negotiate in good faith to resolve any disagreements. If a resolution cannot be reached, the matter can be taken to the competent court in Zagreb.

Modifications: Committed to continuous product improvement, Spinea Navis reserves the right to make unannounced changes and modifications. In these instances, the buyer is not entitled to cancel the contract order.

Technical Documentation and Confidentiality: The buyer is granted a limited license to use the technical documentation provided by Spinea Navis for their own purposes. However, they must maintain the confidentiality of this information and not share it with unauthorized third parties.

Notices: All formal notices, requests, and other communications between the buyer and the seller under this agreement must be in writing and shall be deemed to have been duly given when personally delivered or sent via registered mail, return receipt requested, or via email to the designated address or email address of the respective parties. The parties may update their designated address or email address for notices by providing written notice of the change to the other party. The receipt of any such communication shall be acknowledged in writing by the receiving party. This provision ensures that all important communications between the buyer and the seller are properly received, documented, and acknowledged.

Confidentiality Clause: The parties agree that during their business relationship, they may access or become acquainted with each other’s Confidential Information, including trade secrets, financial information, customer and supplier details, business strategies, and technical documentation. Both parties commit to keeping such information confidential and protecting it from unauthorized disclosure or use.

Confidentiality obligations do not apply to information that is publicly available, independently developed, rightfully received from a third party, or required to be disclosed by law. These obligations will last for five (5) years after the agreement’s expiration or termination.

In case of unauthorized disclosure or use of Confidential Information, the non-breaching party may seek legal remedies, including injunctive relief and monetary damages

General Terms and Conditions of Purchase

These General Terms and Conditions of Purchase govern all business transactions between Spinea Navis, hereinafter referred to as the “Buyer,” and enterprises, foundations, state-controlled organizations, companies, corporations, and legal entities (collectively, “Suppliers”) supplying goods and services to the Buyer. These Terms and Conditions shall have exclusive validity and precedence over any conflicting terms presented by the Supplier.

Modifications and Conflicting Terms – Individual agreements between Spinea Navis and the Supplier may modify or supersede these General Terms and Conditions of Purchase. The Buyer explicitly rejects the application of the Supplier’s terms and conditions. This rejection applies even if the Buyer does not expressly object to a reference to the Supplier’s terms and conditions, such as in an order confirmation or other communication.

Request for Quotations, Orders, and Confirmations: When the Buyer requests a quotation from the Supplier, including but not limited to a Request for Quotation or Invitation to Tender, the Buyer is not obligated by such a request. The Buyer is not responsible for any costs incurred by the Supplier in preparing or submitting a quotation unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Buyer only accepts content related to prices, payment terms, specific performance details, and delivery and performance dates from the quotation. Any reference to the Supplier’s General Terms and Conditions in the quotation is considered void.

The Buyer may submit written orders, which can also be sent via email or fax. The Supplier must promptly inform the Buyer if the order contains discrepancies or contradictions that could reasonably lead to concerns regarding the order’s execution meeting the Buyer’s or Buyer’s customer’s requirements. In such a case, the Supplier must provide the Buyer with a reasonable amount of time to reconsider and possibly modify the order.

The Supplier must confirm the orders within three working days in writing unless otherwise specified or immediately reject them if not otherwise obligated by an agreement with the Buyer to accept the placed order. If the Supplier does not confirm the order within the specified time, the Buyer reserves the right to cancel or modify the order without any consequences.

Pricing, Payment Terms, and Conditions: Unless otherwise agreed upon, prices are determined according to the accepted order. If no written agreement states otherwise, the price includes delivery free of charge to the specified address by DDP Incoterm 2010, including packaging. The return of packaging requires a separate agreement.

Payment terms are set at 60 days net following receipt of the invoice. Should the Buyer make an advance payment, it must be accompanied by a Bank Guarantee of an equal amount. The Buyer reserves the right to offset payments against any claims the Buyer may have against the Supplier.

Delivery, Risk, and Title Transfer: Unless otherwise agreed, the applicable Incoterm 2010 is DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to the destination. Deliveries may also be made to the Buyer’s customer’s site outside Germany or Europe.

The Transfer of Risk is by the provisions of the agreed Incoterm. However, if the contract requires installation at the site and/or commissioning, the risk is not transferred until the installation or commissioning, whichever is applicable based on the Supplier’s contractual obligations, has been
